Girls Rising

An eight-week workshop that equips girls for empowerment.

Girls Rising is our signature eight-week workshop for girls who participate in the Bernadette’s House Home After School program. This evidenced-based social program is designed to provide early intervention and preventive skills to girls at risk for social and educational difficulties.

Each girl is assessed during an intake process and strategically matched with an adult volunteer mentor who is committed to establishing a nurturing relationship with the mentee. Over the course of the workshop, they participate in activities that help them develop critical thinking and decision-making skills.

These skills will allow participants to learn how to deal with stressful situations, resolve conflicts respectfully, and make ethical and safe choices. BH girls are encouraged to dream beyond their existing life situation and begin to consciously think about the future. They’ll set goals and create a structured plan that will enable them to achieve their dreams.
