A safe place where girls discover their passions.Bernadette’s House, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in October 2012. Our volunteer staff is dedicated to providing a safe and supportive home-like environment for preteen and teenage girls who live in and around Laurel, Maryland. Careful consideration is made to match each girl with a mentor who is dedicated to developing a nurturing relationship that encourages the mentee to venture on a journey of self-discovery, and “dare to dream” of a life full of possibilities. Our program fosters the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills that will enable the girls to make life choices that will have a positive impact on their future. |

The Benefits of Bernadette’s House
Self-empowerment
Our Girls Rising Webinar empowers our girls to have a space for self-reflection and self-improvement. We believe these skills are essential to mature promising young ladies into empowered women. We firmly believe that giving girls the skills to learn about themselves today will lead to their brighter tomorrow. Our one-on-one mentoring establishes a meaningful relationship, leading to long-term social-emotional wellness. |
Affordable and in-demand
Our affordable programs are designed for ages 8 to 17-year-olds, who are often not serviced in traditional after school programs due to age restrictions. Concentrating our efforts on this critical age group allows us to provide an appropriate curriculum that impacts character, attitudes and behaviors. |
Engaged in the community
We extend beyond our programs and are proud to partner with other community organizations. At Bernadette’s House, we believe in the importance of exposing the next generation to giving back to their community. In addition, we take our young women out to explore the community around them, by scheduling retreats and field trips throughout the year. Exposing youth to diverse, positive situations is critical for self-development. |
“I visited and taught at the center. It’s an amazing group of young women. The support there is awesome. Carol Nash is absolutely perfection, love her.”— RENELLE MCDOWELL |
